We Stepped out into a Different Dimension

I'm not sure what happened today.  We parked in a downtown parking garage in Sacramento, very much in the city.  Then we followed the directions and walked through a park like area and tunnel and next thing you know, we were somewhere else.  Some place drastically different.

So this would be Old Sacramento.

And during the Gold Rush days, they bring in tons (actual tons) of dirt and cover the roads in it.  But even without the dirt, this place is fantastically nostalgic.

We fell in love with our town in Kansas one December and knew indeed we wanted to live there. It had a street of old buildings, covered in lights and it was beautiful.  Those old buildings were marvelous.

But let me tell you now, that town has nothing on Old Sacramento.

And they have awesome little shops.  Quirky little shops.  Just how I like them.  Go buy something!

And the women on the streets were protesting, demanding the right to vote.

And then this fabulous work of art had my attention.

Well, we know what we'll be doing for Labor Day weekend for the next several years.  And no, we won't be attending this church.
