And luckily we have a lot of clothes that are easy to put on and get over that bulky thing. I've also been sticking with pants she can pull off and on, or just dresses, so she doesn't have to mess with any buttons.
But after this afternoon, and going to our new pediatrician's office, the bulky, hideous splint, is a thing of the past. Meet her new, smaller blue cast.
Also good news, the guy at the chaos of a hospital scared me when he said the fracture was in her growth plates. Well, I don't know if things were just swollen that day or what, but we saw the X-Rays today, and she very obviously has a break, and not hairline like he said. The pediatrician told us this is the most common break, just from buckling under pressure and it should heal quite nicely, as they usually do. There is absolutely nothing alarming about the break. (And I didn't blog about it before, because it was a bit too personal.) The funny thing that is when everyone asked her what happened (and they did this at the hospital too) and she responds, "monkey bars," everyone just nods and says they see this all the time. In fact, the nice man who put on her cast said monkey bars and motorcycles are his job security.
She is so proud of her new cast. She can move a lot more. Her elbow can bend again. It's certainly prettier on the eyes. And the best part? We're on our way to a recovery! And we finally have a pediatrician's office in this state! Although I will miss our old one so, so much, that was one change we couldn't put off any longer. And here soon, we can find out how long we'll wear this thing.
