We Never Tire of the Beach

One of our most favorite things about living out west is that we can easily drive to the shore.  And while I have several trips of shore visits I never shared on the blog, I'm only focusing on last Sunday's jaunt.  Point Reyes has to be one of our most favorite places on the planet.  And if we had to make a list of pros and cons of living out here, I'm sure it'd be on the top of "pros."  And quite possibly enough of a reason for us to never ever move out of Northern California.  It's that awesome.

We specifically planned this trip at low tide.  We went a couple weeks before Easter and it was high tide and we barely spent much time out there.  So this time, we wanted plenty of beach time, and not just beach time, but meandering along the shore, hunting for shells with plenty of uncovered sand.  Yeah, that sort of beach time.  And it doesn't matter how many times we visit Point Reyes, we always discover something new.  We can walk the same beach and every visit something is massively different.  Sometimes the tide pools are readily available.  Sometimes, they're completely covered in sand.

And this time, our tide pools were more exposed than they've ever been.

Isn't that amazing???

And there were a lot of ladybugs at the beach too!

This little guy was barely larger than my thumbnail.

That dead crab is the size of The Redhead's head.

More ladybugs friends.

And the best part of going to the shore is The Redhead.  If there was never more of a reason to have moved out here, it was to give these experience to her during childhood.

Because you're definitely not experiencing this at a lake in Kansas.
