Last Monday, Labor Day, we were sitting in a very favorite restaurant of ours. We hadn't been to this location, but since we were in downtown Sacramento, it seemed like a good idea to try it out. We were sitting there waiting for The Redhead to return from using the restroom. Normally, I would go with her, but the door was close by, and in view, so we thought we'd try it solo for once. She is quite independent anyway, so this was favorable in her opinion.
When she returned to the table after what felt like an eternity, she announced to us, "I can wipe getting trapped in a bathroom stall off my bucket list." It was hard not to laugh at her serious face. It also would explain what had taken her so long. We knew she wasn't doing anything naughty, but we were both hoping her stomach wasn't bothering her in any way. Neither one of us were expecting what actually happened.
As we were laughing at her announcement, she tells us how she was shaking the stall and some lady came in while she was there and sort of stood nearby and asked, "what on earth?" According to her, she didn't ask for the lady's help, nor did the lady offer it. Then she followed with, "so, do you know how I finally got out?" I asked her the dreaded question, "did you crawl underneath the door?" That dear, sweet child of mine answers, "NO! I would never do something that nasty!" What actually happened then? She kicked the door open and shouted "Freedom!" We asked her if she really did do that and she proudly stated, "yes, yes I did."

I shared this story in a Facebook status as I often do with hilarious little anecdotes, most never making it into a blog entry. But I felt like I couldn't share these following photos from Labor Day without sharing that little ditty. It would truly be incomplete.
As for what we did before we ate downtown that day, well, we went to the Crocker Museum our second Labor Day in a row. Once upon a time, we'd hit this festival in Missouri, but since we no longer live in the Midwest, we have embraced new traditions. The Crocker Art Museum offered the same family event as last year, including the museum open for free, a petting zoo, crafts, and live music.
She managed to sneak her pal Hankie into the art museum.
This pig was her favorite.
She refused to part from her new pet pig.
And as we were leaving the art museum's grounds, we spotted this little guy on their stylish gate.
